YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN DIRECT ORDERS TO ROCK THE FUCK OUT.

Please watch this. It's incredible.

So as it turns out my Macbook Pro Charger has melted away at the connection closest to the white box is surely will be breaking sometime in the next week or two. I originally began fixing the problem by taping it up and moving the cord until it began to power up. Then I had to pinch the cord where the bad connection was (over the plastic) to charge it, but after 10 seconds it was too hot to touch, so I had to abandon that plan. Now I've just wrapped up the boo boo in loose copper wire and re-wrapped it in plastic tape (for some reason there's no electrical tape in this house). Yes, I recognize this is very unsafe and a potential fire hazard, but I'm doing what I can until I can make this thing last just a little further.

I just checked on the cord and the tape is already melted. awwwwww SHIT. This is so bad.

Dave...I'm sorry. It was good seeing you in Stardust this past summer. You looked well. I remember your 10-year-old laugh as clear as day. I remember you used to kick the shit out of kickballs in PE. Once one popped just from making contact with the ground after it had left your foot. It's obvious your life continued to be lived to its fullest extent. You'll be missed.

Geeze. Dave. My grandfather three days ago. David Crawford. Nate. Too many people too soon. Why does death have to be so prevalent?

I think I had the best New Years ever. Liza was here for a couple days and we spend them doing everything worth doing in Orlando. It's necessary to go all out when trying to change someone's view of a particular city. Travis came up in the afternoon of new years eve and we all hung out and ate pasgetti and drinking beers and throwing bottle rockets into to the air so we had no idea in which direction they'd be shooting.
Caitlin had 3 friends and her boyfriend over and around 10:45 we headed downtown. Like usual, BAR BQ BAR had no cover, cheap drinks, okay music, and wonderfully interesting people. We were there for the countdown, which was confusing because the DJ was 30 seconds too late and no one actually know what time it really was. But that didn't really matter, it all worked out. Some highlights of the night:

+ Roman candle surgery
+ Aladdin on SNES
+ Secret hangout room
+ Sparklers inside the bar
+ $2 tallboys
+ Midnight G&Ts
+ Favorite people all around me all night.

I was asked to design the new Orlando Critical Mass flier for 2010. I've been working on it for a couple hours and it's starting to look pretty cool. I think I was just cut out for tedious .20mm pen drawings, because it often seems that's what I go to when I have no limitations or requirements. I'll have a scanned-in version up in a day or so.

***

I will say though, just an observation, that I've noticed a lot of blogs (excluding most of my friends, which is real cool) that I come across consist purely of regurgitation of photos and videos from the internet. I mean, sharing things is one thing, and of course it's always neat to see the things that are posted, but to only post things others have done kind of defeats the purpose for having your own personal blog and automatically turns you into a little robot that distributes cool things to other people on the internet. I'm going to aim for mostly original content on this site, simply because I think it would be cool if everything I posted here was something I created or photographed or recorded. A much as I love ffffound, I feel like I have my own little repertoire of imagery that could easily replace anything I find there and repost here. So cheers to that.

(Of course, there will be the occasional posts where I share other people's things, things that are worth observation. But for the most part they're going to be my brainchildren.)

It's been awhile since I've written anything with any real content. This is due to the fact that I'm at home and have been finding myself doing more than sitting in front of a computer for hours on end. That isn't to say I haven't been thinking things and wanting to post things, because I have, but those thoughts usually end up as a sentence or two in a notebook or sheet of loose leaf. I'll try to get something up here soon. And yes, I'm aware of how many "So-I haven't-posted-anything-worth-reading-lately" posts I've written over the past couple years and that if I'm going to write something talking about how I am going to become more active it would probably be better to wait a day and actually just post something people would want to read. You know? Who want's to read handfuls of posts that tell you the next post will be more interesting. Thanks for making it this far and I promise that this will be the last post of this nature I'll ever write.

"If you will die for me,
I will die for you
and our graves will
be like two lovers washing
their clothes together
in a laundromat.
If you will bring the soap,
I will bring the bleach."

Ever try to kick so high that you fall flat on your back outside the bar where you drank a lot and have to go home with blood on your shirt? Yeah, me too.
Do not ask me how I know this, but cokeheads can make a phenomenal lasagna. I mean, one of the best lasagnas you've ever dreamed of.

Have you ever been in a room where one person sneezes and they get 3 or 4 God bessuz and then you sneeze and you get no God Blessuz? What's that about?

Things I think you should do if you have the time:

1. Watch "American Movie" by Chris Smith

Unrooted
tr.v. un·root·ed, un·root·ing, un·roots

It wouldn't be considered unusual to envision a premature plant being removed from its planter upon hearing this word. Horticulture is, after all, what the term is referring to. Although like many words it has varying connotations when used in different contexts. Consider the word for the second time. You may imagine person or object which is quite comfortable where it is being removed and placed in the unfamiliar, somewhere where it could either thrive or struggle. The results yielded are, for the most part, unpredictable (especially when applying to humans). But everything which is unfamiliar eventually becomes familiar with time, and with so much unfamiliarity constantly at the ends of our fingertips why wouldn't we stay unrooted in some way? To be completely rooted is to be completely contentt and really what's so appealing about that?

Taking a shot at tilt-lens editing techniques. Thanks to Photoshop, it takes a whole 5 minutes to edit one photo. I suspect, however, that fine tuning certain aspects and selecting the right photo is what really takes time to perfect. Maybe after pumping out enough of these I can start making them look more and more like actual models.

This post inspired by Nick Reiter.

I had a dream last night I was swimming with an orca whale. It was great and very "Free Willy" only at one point he was trying to bite me.

Last night Liza, Travis and I drove to Hastings at one in the morning to watch the Leonid meteor shower. We got snacks at a gas station about 10 miles outside of our destination. I wanted to wait to eat the snacks, but everyone started on their own almost immediately so I went ahead and just ate mine then too. I got bar-b-que chips. I always get bar-b-que chips and lemon-lime gatorade. I wanted a beer but it was past one, 1:18 to be exact. Anyway.
One thing I was always somewhat aware of but never fully experienced was the insanely thick fog in that area. Scary movie kind of fog. It comes and goes in blankets and we had to relocate once because it floated in and obscured our vision. When we parked, about 20 feet off the road, we all got out and laid down on top of Travis's Toyota, forming a Hiller sandwich. The sky out in the Hastings area is especially clear and the visibility is unparalleled. I was amazed by how many stars we were able to see that night. I had only ever seen more out in the wilderness of Utah, which says a lot.
Right away Travis and I saw a HUGE meteor which streaked across the entire sky. Over the coarse of the 45 minutes or so we were out there we saw about a dozen shooting-stars. Some were rather large and caught our attention wherever we were looking in the sky and some were rather quick and missed by one or two of the three people. It was amazing, especially considering before that night I had only ever seen a couple meteors myself. After fog took over for the second time, we collectively decided to travel back and got home around 3 or so.
I don't know I could speak for Liza and Travis, but just being out there was ineffably relaxing. Even to the point where I'd consider driving out there by myself just to lay on my car for an hour or so to look at the sky. The lights on the way out there were surrounded by this aura of light cast in the fog, just beautiful. It was silent in the country and the sky was filled with stars and meteors. Being able to lay in that environment with two of my favorite people while enjoying bar-b-que chips and lemon-lime Gatorade was perfect and in that moment there was really nothing more I could have asked for.

Two nights ago I had a dream that my back molar was loose and about to fall out. I didn't touch it because I knew it was so close to breaking off, I just touched it with my tongue. I woke up, relieved that all my teeth were still anchored in my mouth.

Last night I had a dream that my previous nights dream was real, and my molar had fallen out. I remembered the dream I had the night before in my dream the next night. Needless to say, it was pretty awful. My teeth have fallen out in dreams at least 4 times in the last year, but it's odd for it to happen two nights in a row. Blech.
